Belgian StarCasino Enters Spain Through Deal with GiG
StarCasino – which has secured a permit to offer sports betting and casino games in Spain – will utilize GiG’s player account management system and its Sportnco sportsbook.
GiG stated that the systems “are designed to deliver a top-notch localized and personalized gambling experience and robust sports profit margins in competitive and regulated markets.”
Will StarCasino Make More Market Entrances?
Alejandro Casanova, Starcasino’s Spain Country Manager, stated that this move could be the initial step in a broader international expansion of its business.
He said: “We are thrilled to have reached an accord with the GiG Group. Following years of effort and achievement in Belgium, we have initiated expansion into other markets and have selected GiG’s technology to effectively address the challenges in Spain.”
Hervé Schlosser, Managing Director of GiG Sportnco Gaming, said GiG’s technology is particularly well-suited to operators seeking to enter new markets.
Im truly thrilled to finalize this partnership agreement with Starcasino to assist them in penetrating the Spanish marketplace,” he stated. “I believe our blend of sports wagering, platform technology, and regulatory expertise is ideally suited to aiding established operators like Starcasino in entering new regulated territories.”
The marketing obstacles in Spain are formidable. In October, the Spanish Senate enacted legislation that will impose even more advertising limitations on top of the already stringent regulations in the market.
Spain implemented a series of advertising restrictions in November 2020. This implies that advertisements can only be displayed on television and radio between 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m., and gambling sponsorships of football teams are prohibited. Existing arrangements can continue until the end of the season.
Numerous of these limitations were part of Spain’s initial response to the COVID-19 pandemic, when the first advertising restrictions were put in place. These restrictions were lifted in June, but many were reinstated in the November decree.
The new legislation aims to reintroduce restrictions that were part of a larger temporary COVID-19 rules package. These restrictions encompass instructing operators not to promote their products as beneficial for social status, physical health, financial stability, or mental well-being.
