Kindred to Keep Dutch Players Out Until Q2 2022
Kindred has declared that they will persist in barring Dutch players until they secure a permit, which is anticipated to be awarded in the second quarter of 2022.
Unibet, the operator, declared on September 30th, prior to the Dutch regulated online marketplace opening, that they would temporarily prohibit any Dutch players from utilizing their website. At that time, the company stated this was a temporary action while they sought legal direction, and they anticipated that direction to demonstrate they could accept clients from the Netherlands as long as they didn’t advertise to them.
The company then added that they expected this action to cost the company £12 million in monthly earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) before any potential mitigating actions.
However, the company now states they will bar these customers until at least the second quarter of 2022, implying the total EBITDA loss will exceed £72 million.
The operator stated they will submit their license application this quarter, having already taken steps to apply.
“Kindred is prepared for the Dutch licensing procedure under the Remote Gambling Act and has been preparing for the Dutch license application, including successfully completing the necessary external audits,” the company stated.
Upon market commencement, numerous gaming companies, such as LeoVegas, Betsson, Entain, and Casumo, restricted Dutch clientele.
At the outset, only a limited number of operators, including Bet365, Tombola, and Holland Casino, were granted permits.
