Howard Hughes Corporation Enters Casino Market with New Las Vegas Strip Venture
Howard Hughes Corporation has plans to launch a fresh, land-based gambling establishment on the renowned Las Vegas Strip in Nevada.
The enterprise will venture into the casino industry through a newly established branch, Harbor Entertainment. Harbor Entertainment will oversee all of its entertainment-related holdings in New York and Las Vegas, encompassing 80% of the airspace above the Fashion Show shopping center, which is also the designated location for the upcoming casino.
HHH intends to separate Harbor Entertainment as a publicly traded entity by the end of 2024, enabling it to operate autonomously as a dedicated entertainment business.
To guide this new division, HHH has selected seasoned gaming professional Anton Nikodemus as the CEO of Harbor Entertainment. Nikodemus has accumulated nearly 11 years of experience in various high-level positions at MGM Resorts International, most recently serving as president and chief commercial officer of CityCenter and the Cosmopolitan.
This marks HHH’s initial venture into the casino market. Its current holdings primarily consist of retail, office, and residential properties in numerous states across the United States.
Prior to assuming the role of President and Chief Operating Officer at the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino, a position he held for five and a half years, Nicodemus served as Senior Vice President of Operations at the Bellagio. He occupied comparable roles at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Howard Hughes Corporation unveiled ambitious plans, appointing Nicodemus to head the newly established Harbor Entertainment division.
