Betsson Achieves Record-Breaking Revenue in 2022 Driven by Sports Betting Surge
A premier online gaming enterprise, Betsson, concluded 2022 on a high note, generating €220.6 million ($237.4 million) in the final quarter. This signifies a substantial 40% leap from the corresponding period in 2021.
This robust performance propelled Betsson’s annual revenue for 2022 to an unprecedented €777.2 million, reflecting an 18% surge year-over-year.
Although their casino vertical experienced a respectable 27% revenue growth in Q4, it was their sports wagering segment that truly shone. This division witnessed a remarkable 76% revenue increase, underscoring the worldwide enthusiasm for sports betting.
This triumph translated into a profit (before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) of €51.1 million for the fourth quarter, a staggering 68% increase compared to the same period in 2021. For the full year, this profit metric reached an impressive €172.1 million, a 12% rise, with a profit margin of 22.2%.
The firm’s strong results extended further. Their net income for the fourth quarter reached €32.7 million, equating to €0.26 per share. Moreover, they produced €75.5 million in operating cash flow during the quarter.
Notwithstanding these achievements, the company’s debt did experience a notable rise, shifting from a surplus of €2.5 million to a shortfall of €65.7 million.
Commenting on these outcomes, Betsson’s CEO, Jesper Svensson, proudly declared that 2022 was the company’s most successful year to date. He ascribed this accomplishment to their measured investment strategy, their broad global reach, and their ongoing endeavors in bolstering their technological infrastructure and product portfolio. He emphasized the remarkable 18% revenue growth for the year, which, excluding the impact of acquisitions and currency fluctuations, represents an even more impressive organic growth rate of 27%.
